Markings: The top of the barrel at the front of the forend is marked “Old Reliable”. The top of the barrel is also marked “C. SHARPS ARMS CO. INC. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA, U.S.A.” and near the receiver with ”CAL. 45 21/10”. The left side of the receiver is marked “C. SHARPS ARMS CO. INC. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA. U.S.A.” The bottom of the receiver is marked “S914”.
Barrel Length: 34” Heavy profile octagon barrel.
Sights / Optics: Currently there are no sights installed on this rifle. The top of the barrel behind the muzzle is dovetail cut for a front sight. The upper tang of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a Tang mounted rear sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two-piece smooth extra fancy walnut. The buttstock has a full pistol grip with a full cheek piece and a checkered case colored steel buttplate. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The forend is a Schnabel style smooth forend. The forend shows only a very small dot on the edge of the right side. The stock and buttplate show no notable signs of wear. Overall the furniture set is in Excellent to Like New condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, hammer, trigger, buttplate and lever are case colored.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. This rifle appears unfired. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The metal surfaces of the rifle show essentially no marks or damage that this writer could find. There is some dust in the receiver but otherwise this rifle is in Like New condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
