Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a finger-grooved forend and pistol grip with palm-swell on each side. The buttstock has been modified with a pneumatic recoil reducer installed and a black rubber buttpad. The recoil system is not currently charged with air, we have not tested it. The forend has a few light nicks and scratches, but no notable damage. There is a small fill in the bottom of the wrist behind the trigger guard with a thin crack in the bottom-left of the wrist where the fill meets the guard. It appears that the comb was previously adjustable, the remainder of the adjustable section has been fixed in place. The buttstock has a few nicks and scratches. The checkering is well defined. The drop at the front of the comb is approximately 1 7/8?. Drop at the front of the sliding section of the buttstock is approximately 1 1/2″, drop at heel 2″. The drops are consistent across the barrel sets. The LOP measures approximately 13 3/4? from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine condition as modified.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Original, numbers are matching on each barrel set, the forend iron and the receiver.
Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright. There is no erosion in the bores. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance is mostly in normal operational wear and handling wear on the controls. There are a few scattered minor marks and edge-thinning. The screwheads are lightly worn. The pin heads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock to the receiver with no play. The trigger is crisp. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in an Americase fitted for the four barrel sets.
Our Assessment: The Remington 32 was discontinued shortly after WWII and their patents on the design were not renewed. Henrich Krieghoff, having recently escaped Soviet-controlled East Germany had settled in Ulm and started making sporting arms. He was able to receive approval from Remington to utilize their design and the Krieghoff 32 was born! It would go on to be considered one of the finest sporting shotguns available, and with good reason. This example was produced in 1970 and has survived the decades well with only normal use wear. It is a four-gauge skeet set that has seen a little bit of modification. The stocks have been replaced including a pneumatic recoil reducer in the buttstock (not currently charged). The 12 gauge barrels have been threaded for Briley chokes while the sub-gauge barrel sets are still fixed-choked Skeet. The bores are bright and the mechanics and trigger pull are still competition ready. This should make a nice all-around sporting or skeet gun for the lucky winner.
