Sights / Optics: The front sight is a bladed post set between two protective sight wings. The rear sight is an aperture tangent sight that sits just ahead of protective sight wings.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece smooth wood with a pistol grip, finger grooves, metal nosecaps, barrel band, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The wood shows several scratches and compression marks. The LOP measures 13 1/4 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate shows discoloration and wear. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The muzzle is light gray. The remaining grooves are semi bright. The rifling is deep. There is fouling in the bore that should clean up some. There is light erosion in the grooves.
In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 7.5 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The metal shows scattered scrapes & scratches which have removed areas of the paint finish. The exposed metal shows discoloration from oxidation. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads show use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action Does function correctly. This firearm has not been tested, these are used items. While we have performed a mechanical function check and noted any discrepancies we cannot guarantee the suitability of this firearm.
The cocking indicator is located at the bottom front of the trigger guard.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle has a leather sling attached and cleaning gear stored in the butt. The rifle comes with a 10 round magazine that appears to function correctly.
The rifle comes with an FN Model 1949 bayonet & scabbard. The bayonet mounts the rifle.
Our Assessment: This Rare Luxembourg contract FN 49 was produced by Fabrique Nationale (FN) of Belgium. It is chambered in .30-06. It is estimated that less than 10,000 were produced in this contract. The rifle has nice deep markings that include “AL” (Armee Luxembourg) on top of the receiver as well as matching part numbers on the receiver, top cover, stock, bolt carrier, and bolt. There is no visible import mark. This FN 49 looks impressive and will add to your Military collection. The rifle comes with an FN Model 1949 bayonet & scabbard.
