Markings: The right side of the frame is marked “DAN WESSON FIREARMS NORWICH, NY U.S.A. / 1704560”. The top of the chamber is marked “9MM” and the right side is marked “MATCH”. The left side of the slide is marked “Specialist”.
Barrel Length: 4 1/4” Match Grade
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium insert and is dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch sight with a serrated rear face, a vertical front face for slide racking, and a single tritium insert. The rear sight is dovetailed into the slide and has a set screw. The lamps have a strong glow and are easily acquired in low light. The front lamp is green and the rear lamp is amber.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece dark gray and black G10 panels with raised square checkering, smooth areas, and a thumb cut on the left panel. There are no major defects, just light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. Overall, the grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are no major defects, just light handling marks. The screw sockets are strong. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit is snug. The trigger is crisp. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
Box & Accessories: Included is a serial matching case, two 10-round magazines, and paperwork including the manual.
Our Assessment: Colt’s 1911 served the U.S. Military all the way up to the early 1980’s; nearly every American has seen one on TV, in a movie or in their grandparent’s collection. The design is so legendary; hundreds of other manufacturers have followed its path and tried to improve upon the design, but without much change to the overall operation. This is a Dan Wesson Specialist Commander with a host of upgrades such as a beavertail memory bump grip safety, serrated trigger with overtravel adjustment, skeletonized hammer, slide racking tactical rear sight, a recessed slide stop pin (like the FBI 1911), night sights, match grade barrel, angled rear slide serrations, an extended frame safety, extended magazine well mainspring housing, slide with a serrated rib, and a railed frame to mount your favorite accessories…..holy $h!t this is one HOT 1911. This one is chambered for 9mm and may just be the perfect carry gun. This is a beautiful 1911 pistol with tasteful upgrades that simply showcase the brilliance of a design going strong over 100 years after its invention. If you need something to protect your house or to daily carry, this would be a fantastic option but with its sexy lines and short production run this high condition Commander may be destined for a 1911 collection.
