The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: None.

Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 Standard Rifle chambered in .300 H&H Magnum. The rifle was made in 1937, the first year this model was offered in this chambering. In addition to being a quite early example of the Model 70, the rifle also has scope bases installed with the front base serial-matched to the gun, possibly indicating that it was a special-order feature installed at the factory. This is a beautiful rifle chambered for a potent hunting cartridge that is ready to bag some game. That said, being not only a pre-64 but a four-digit Model 70 with its features, it will be a great addition to a Winchester collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
