There is a third thin crack at the right-front edge of the wrist. The right of the wrist has some pooled finish. A chip-loss at the toe has been filled in. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Drop at comb is about 1 3/8″, drop at heel is about 2 1/2″. Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is a patch of scraping on the top of the right barrel over the front of the forend. The receiver’s silver finish has a little bit of discoloration with some wear around the top of the trigger. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good-plus condition and would easily rate Fine but for the wear in the stocks.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The lockup is tight. The safety returns to Safe when the action is opened. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A pair of orange plastic dummy rounds are included.
Our Assessment: Browning is not the only company to have found that Japan has some high quality firearms manufacturers. In the late ’60s and ’70s, Ithaca also contracted to have side-by-side shotguns made for them, choosing SKB rather than Miroku. The result is a fine-quality double gun with graceful lines, a nice balance and of course, strong mechanics. The Ithaca SKB model 200 is prized by hunters, sportsmen and even competitors in Cowboy Action Shooting for its craftsmanship and durability. This one is in Very Good-plus condition and shows wear in the stocks, little in the metal, great bores and a tight lockup. It has scroll engraving on its silver finished receiver, and it is a real looker that ought to shoot well, too. Please see our photos and good luck!
