Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “FREEDOM ARMS MODEL 97 .41 REM MAG / *FREEDOM, WYOMING U.S.A.*”. The left side of the frame is marked “R 0206”. The bottom of the frame is marked “PATENTED”. The rear face of the cylinder is marked “R0206”. The right side of the frame is marked “FREEDOM ARMS / PREMIER GRADE”. The left side of the grip frame is hand-scribed “Y55728-58”. The inside of both grip panels is marked “R0206” in marker.
Barrel Length: 5 1/2”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade with a gold bead and is set on a smooth ramped base fixed to the barrel. The front sight is secured with an allen head at the front of the base. The rear sight is a wide “V” notch sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation and is in a base that is screwed to the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are smooth wood on a Bisley grip frame. There are a few light marks from use and storage. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some draglines and light handling marks. There are a couple of little scuffs that have caused smooth spots, most noticeable on the barrel on the left side at the frame. There are a few little marks on the bottom of the barrel from contact with the ejector tab. The cylinder has a light turn line on the cylinder. The markings are clear. The screwheads range from sharp to lightly worn. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is solid. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching blue box with a host of paperwork including a manual, serial matching test target, and sales receipts.
Our Assessment: Freedom Arms makes what are probably the highest quality single-action revolvers in the world, and this single action Model 97 revolver is no exception. The action and trigger pull are exceptional. The lockup is solid with no movement. The stainless finish with the unfluted cylinder is very appealing to the eye as well as functional in being nearly impervious to the elements. This example has a 5 1/2? barrel, adjustable sights, and is chambered for the potent .41 Remington Magnum. It has some special features that include its sights, Bisley grip frame, and an action job done by Freedom Arms. Paired with Freedom Arms’ quality, this is a really nice package for the handgun hunter, outdoorsman, or Freedom Arms fan. Please see our photos and good luck!
