Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “PIETRO BERETTA GARDONE V.T. – MADE IN ITALY / PATENTED BERETTA USA CORP. ACKK, MD”. The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number “F43366Y” and has Italian proof marks which include the date code “CA”. The top of the barrel is marked ‘CAL 9 Short / 380 Auto”. The right side of the slide is marked “PB” and features a safety disclaimer. The right side of the frame is marked “PB” and “85 FS CHEETAH – CAL. 9 Short / READ MANUAL BEFORE USE”. The grip panels feature Beretta markings.

Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a blade with a red painted dot fixed to the slide. The rear sight is square-notch dovetailed to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The grip panels are two-piece checkered black plastic panels. The grips have light handling marks, nicks and scuffs. The checkering is sharp. There are no cracks or chips. Overall, the grip panels are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The semi-bore is bright with mostly sharp rifling. There is light erosion concentrated in the grooves.
Overall Condition: The pistol retains about 85% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks, nicks and scuffs. Notably, there is some finish loss at the top of the barrel from the action, some finish loss along the leading edge at the front left portion of the frame and some light finish loss along the slide’s leading edges. The markings remain clear. The screwheads have light tool-marks but they remain serviceable. Overall, the pistol remains in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit is snug. The single-action trigger is crisp and the double-action is smooth. We did not fire this pistol. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: The pistol comes with a single 8-round magazine. The magazine has some light handling marks but it remains in Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This Beretta Model 85-FS is a compact, single and double-action semi-automatic pistol chambered for .380 ACP rounds. The pistol has an utilitarian matte finish and it remains mechanically sound. This particular handgun was made in Italy, and the variant has only limited importation into the U.S. each year. Beretta is currently the oldest manufacturer of firearm components in the world, the company manufactured arquebus barrels which were supplied to the Venetian fleet that defeated the Ottomans during the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. The company remains one of the most prestigious firearms manufacturers in the world, and this pistol is an example of the quality firearms the company is renowned for.
