Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “FREEDOM ARMS MODEL 83 454 CASULL / FREEDOM, WYOMING U.S.A.”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT. NO. 4126953”. The bottom of the frame is marked “D18794”. The rear face of the cylinder is marked “18794”. The backstrap is marked “R.E.F.”. The right side of the frame is marked “FREEDOM ARMS / PREMIER GRADE”.
Barrel Length: 7 1/2” Octagonal Magna Ported
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade set on a smooth ramped base fixed to the barrel. The front sight is secured with an allen head at the front of the base. The rear sight is a flat-topped square notch sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation and screwed to the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are smooth black micarta. There is a scrape on the bottom edge of the left panel at the rear. The right panel has a couple of scratches down towards the bottom. There are some scattered light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Fine condition.
Type of Finish: Stainless Steel
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a couple of draglines and faint hairline scratches on the barrel and ejector rod housing. The barrel has a couple little marks on the edges. The grip frame has a couple of tiny scuffs. There are a few light draglines and handling marks on the frame and cylinder. The cylinder has a faint turn line. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is solid. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Freedom Arms makes what are probably the highest quality single-action revolvers in the world, and this single action Model 83 Premier Grade revolver is no exception. The action and trigger pull are exceptional. The lockup is solid and the build quality is unparalleled. The stainless finish with the unfluted cylinder is very appealing to the eye as well as functional in being nearly impervious to the elements. This example has a badass Magna Ported 7 1/2? octagonal barrel, adjustable sights and is chambered for the powerfull .454 Casull cartridge.
