Markings: The bottom of the receiver is marked “Remington / REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. / MODEL 32S / 4594”. The inside of the forend is marked “4594 S”. The left side of the top barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. / U.S. PATENT NO. 1,795,223 – OTHER PATENTS PENDING / 12 GA.”. The left side of the barrel bracket is marked “FULL / MOD.”. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “C / D X” and with an inspection mark. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “4594”. The right side of the barrel bracket is marked “XRR3” and with inspection and proof marks. The interior of the receiver is marked “4594 / S” and with inspection marks. The sides of the receiver have game dogs. The forend iron is marked “4594”.

Barrel Length: 32”, The barrel has a solid rib which a previous owner has applied custom venting to.

Choke: Full over Modified, Fixed

Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a metal bead set on the rib at the muzzle and there is a smaller alignment bead at the midsection.

Weight: 8 lbs., 7 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with finger grooved forend, straight comb, pistol grip, and an aftermarket rubber buttpad. There are cracks on the forend on the right side and on the bottom at the rear. There are two little cracks on the bottom of the wrist at the rear of the tang. There is scattered finish wear, some areas appear pooled and some areas appear crazed. There are some scattered compressions and a few marks through the finish, some of the most noticeable are on bottom of the forend at the front, the comb, and belly. The checkering is mostly strong. The LOP measures 14 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad, 13 3/8? to the back of the wood. The pad has some scattered wear. The drop at comb is about 1 3/8?, drop at heel is about 1 7/8?. The cast is about neutral. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 87% of its metal finish. Holes have been drilled in the solid rib by a previous owner to make it a vent rib. The majority of the finish has patinaed. The receiver has some light scratches on the bottom that have taken on discoloration, There are some scattered spots of oxidation on the receiver. The barrel set has some spots of oxidation. There are a few scratches and nicks on the barrel. There are a few little nicks and scratches into the metal on the barrel set, the most noticeable are on the bottom of the lower barrel towards the front. There is some finish wear on the edges of the muzzles. The pin heads are unmarred. The markings are mostly clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good condition.  

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is one of the few over-under shotgun models ever produced by Remington. The design is essentially the same as the Krieghoff Model 32 and the fit and finish isn’t far off from a Krieghoff, either. This shotgun is in about Very Good condition with 87% of its finish remaining, good bores, and strong mechanics. While it has some wear, this may just be the perfect field over under, and you wont need to worry about it getting a scuff or two. This would make a fine gun to use as a range workhorse breaking clays or out in the field dropping birds. Please see our photos and good luck!
