Our Assessment: Ruger introduced the Gunsite Scout in 2011, developed with Gunsite Academy. The concept of a Scout Rifle was developed by Jeff Cooper as a do-all rifle. The gun would be relatively short, lightweight, chambered in a reasonably powerful cartridge with fast-acquisition sights. Ruger’s Gunsite Scout fits most of these criteria while going above and beyond with a detachable box magazine, allowing for faster reloading than Jeff Cooper’s original ideal. This rifle rates in Fine-to-Excellent condition with some faint wear on the barrel and receiver, a great bore, and its original packaging. Especially wonderful is that this example is oriented for left-handed shooters. There are many upgrades available in case you want to tinker with the platform a little, and ammunition should be easy to come by. Good luck and happy bidding!
