Markings: The left of the slide is marked with the S&W atom logo and “SW1911Sc”, the left of the dust cover is marked “CAUTION – CAPABLE OF FIRING / WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED”. The right of the frame is marked “SW1911SC / JRE7751” and “S&W SPFLD, MA / USA”. The top of the chamber is marked “45 AUTO”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium insert and is dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a Novaks style lo-mount square notch target sight with two tritium inserts and is dovetailed to the rear of the slide and also has a set screw. The lamps have a strong bright glow.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece antler grips. There are some light handling marks. The grips have a couple of tiny marks from use. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is some thinning on the edges of the slide. There are a few little tiny marks by the front sight. There are a couple of hairline scratches on the frontstrap. There are a couple light marks on the dust cover. There is standard operational wear. There are light handling marks. The screw heads are lightly worn with strong slots. The pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide-to-frame fit has almost no play. There is a full-length guide rod and skeletonized hammer & trigger. The trigger is crisp. This pistol has a grip safety, thumb safety and a series ’80-style firing pin safety. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with an 8-round magazine.

Our Assessment: This is a Commander-style pistol, based on the 1911 design, produced by Smith & Wesson. Similar to the Commander, this pistol has a 4 1/4″ barrel and an alloy frame, but it also has a number of upgrades over a basic Commander which are popular for these style pistols. The slide has front and rear slide serrations, the grip safety is an extended beavertail style allowing for a higher grip without slide-bite and positive engagement when gripped, the thumb safety is extended, and the pistol has a full-length guide rod and skeletonized hammer and trigger. The gun is in Fine condition, showing signs of handling and light use, and comes with a single magazine. This will make for a fine carry or home defense handgun, would be a great pistol for IDPA matches, and in its high condition may interest the S&W collectors. Please see our photos and good luck!
