Our Assessment: IAI Javelina pistols are pretty much a copy of Colt’s 1911 design, with a flat serrated mainspring housing, left side slide stop and thumb safety, and grip safety, but with the addition of a rear adjustable sight and skeletonized trigger with over-travel adjustment. The 10mm was designed by Col. Jeff Cooper to be more powerful and flatter shooting than the .45 ACP. It is primarily used for rural law enforcement, personal defense and hunting. Until the FBI’s request, it had almost become an obsolete cartridge, popular with hand-loaders and recoil junkies. It has remained popular with fans of the 1911 and the 10mm cartridge ever since. The Javelina Longslide guns were made from 1990-1991 by IAI and only in 1992 by AMT, they are now becoming more and more difficult to find at auction each year and this one has survived the decades in Fine Plus condition. This one has a great bore and mechanics, it should be a fun shooter for years to come. Stainless 10mm Longslide, what more is there to say? Please see our photos and good luck!
