Our Assessment: The Type 99 rifle Arisaka or Type 99 short rifle was a bolt-action rifle of the Arisaka design used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The Imperial Japanese Army developed the Type 99 based on the Type 38 rifle but with a caliber of 7.7mm. The Type 99 was produced at nine different arsenals. Seven arsenals were located in Japan, with the other two located at Mukden in Manchukuo and Jinsen in Korea. This is a second series Nagoya arsenal Type 99 Short Rifle made sometime between 1939 and the end of WWII. This Arisaka still has its anti aircraft sights and also comes with a monopod, and sling. The metal finish has some issues but should clean up a bit with some effort. This wartime service rifle will add nicely to a WWII or Military collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
