Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER P229C SAS”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number “55B042093” and “SIG SAUER INC. / EXETER-NH-USA”. The right side of the barrel visible through the ejection port is marked “40 S&W / SIG”. The right side of the frame is marked with the Sig Sauer Custom Shop logo. The grip panels are marked “SIG SAUER”. The front sight and rear sight are each marked “MH3 AO”.

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed into the slide. The rear sight is a square-notch with two tritium lamps on either side that is dovetailed into the slide. The lamps hold a strong glow in low light levels.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece textured charcoal synthetic panels that wrap around the backstrap. The front strap is checkered. There are minor handling marks, but otherwise the grips are free of any notable wear or damage. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and there is no erosion, there is some stubborn fouling in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is light holster wear on the bottom and sides of the dust cover. Sparse faint marks can be found on the slide but are hardly noticeable. The front strap checkering is crisp. All screws are sharp, pins are unmarred, and all markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The single action is light and crisp, and the double action is smooth. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This pistol comes in a black Sig Sauer hard case with a serial matching label, two twelve-round magazines, a safety lock, and a manual.
Our Assessment: Introduced in 1992, the P229 is an upgrade to the P228 being an identical compact firearm often used for duty or concealed carry purposes. Developed specifically for the US market and assembled with both German and US-made parts, the P229 features a heavier slide to tolerate more powerful rounds the P228 is incapable of. This is a Sig Sauer Custom Shop P229C SAS Generation 2. Included with this pistol is a serial matching hard case and two magazines to get you started.
