Our Assessment: The Type 99 rifle Arisaka or Type 99 short rifle was a bolt-action rifle of the Arisaka design used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The Imperial Japanese Army developed the Type 99 based on the Type 38 rifle but with a caliber of 7.7mm. The Type 99 was produced at nine different arsenals. Seven arsenals were located in Japan, with the other two located at Mukden in Manchukuo and Jinsen in Korea. This is a second series Nagoya arsenal Type 99 Short Rifle made sometime between 1939 and the end of WWII. This is a collectible rifle that has an intact chrysanthemum that comes with intact anti aircraft sights, a monopod, a dust cover, and a rubberized canvas sling. This is a good looking Type 99 that will add to your WWII collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
