Our Assessment: Popularized by Dirty Harry movies, the N-frame long barrel S&W revolvers had already been on the shelf in America for a few decades; after the movie, the Model 29 was revered by target shooters and law enforcement alike. The 629 is the stainless steel version and has been made in a variety of configurations since 1979 filling just about any role that could be asked of a .44 Magnum revolver. This one is from the Performance Center and has an unfluted cylinder, slabside barrel, weight system, Mag-na-Port porting, integral Weaver rail on the barrel, and of course a Performance Center action. This revolver has multiple provisions for optics and comes equipped with nice adjustable sights. This one is in great shape and we rarely see this variant so it may be a prime contender for an S&W collection. Whatever your reason for buying this revolver, these don’t come around every day. Please see our photos and good luck!
