Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some scattered scuffs and draglines, some have caused smooth spots to the matte finish. There are a few little nicks and faint hairline scratches, hardly noticeable. There are some spots of discoloration that appear to be from previous oxidation on the grip frame, it is most noticeable on the butt. There are scattered handling marks. There is a turn line on the cylinder. The screwheads are lightly worn with heavier wear to the rear sight elevation screw. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup has very little play on each of the six chambers. The double action trigger is smooth and the single-action is crisp. This revolver can be fired without moon clips but the extractor will not function without moon clips. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a total of six full-moon clips, a serial matching box, and a manual.

Our Assessment: The S&W Model 625 is a gun with an interesting, if confusing, history. There was never a 625 no dash, nor have any 625-1s been seen with the first revolvers being model 625-2. These early production guns have been seen marked both “Model of 1988” and “Model of 1989”. Just a year into production, the cylinder stop notches were enlarged on the 625-3. This example is a 625-3 chambered for .45 ACP, able to be used with or without moon clips (though extraction will be easier with the clips). Able to share ammunition with semi-automatics chambered for the same cartridge, this is a great revolver to add to a collection which is already shooting this classic pistol caliber. This example is a 3? version which would make for a fine carry revolver, though with its original box you may wish to stash it away. The gun is in about Fine condition with about 95% of its stainless finish, a great bore and strong mechanics. It even comes with six moon clips to get you started. Please see our photos and good luck!
