Our Assessment: Like the Security-Six before it, the Redhawk was designed by Harry Sefried as a part of their “6” line of guns (Security, Service, Speed), colloquially known as a wrist-breaker, a beastly thrill to shoot, was Ruger’s first large bore double action revolver, and was available in several barrel lengths and chambered for an assortment of powerful cartridges such as .357 and .44 Remington Magnum. This example is chambered in the less common .41 Magnum, a cartridge for which lawmen and firearms experts Elmer Keith, Bill Jordan, Skeeter Skelton beseeched Smith & Wesson to create both the cartridge and a firearm for it. .41 Magnum was created to address perceived issues with .357 and .44 Magnum, such as velocity and recoil. Largely intended for police use, it was thought that .44 Magnum was overkill, and difficult to shoot rapid-fire. This example is in overall Fine condition with minimal wear. Good luck and happy bidding!
