Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked with a Ruger warning over “—STURM, RUGER & CO., INC. SOUTHPORT, CONN, U.S.A.—” and a double “R” Ruger proof mark. The right side of the barrel is marked “.45 COLT”. The right side of the frame is marked “RUGER® Redhawk®”, “®”, and the company’s phoenix logo. The bottom of the grip frame is marked with the serial number, “503-25116”.
Barrel Length: 7 1/2” with Serrated Barrel Rib
Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade with orange insert dovetailed into the front of the barrel rib. The rear sight is a square-notch leaf in a base pinned to the topstrap and is adjustable for elevation and windage.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth wood, each with an inset Ruger phoenix logo medallion at the top. The grips are free of any notable wear or damage. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion, but there is a bit of minor stubborn fouling on the lands.
Overall Condition: There are minor hairline nicks scattered about the stainless steel, and several more notable light nicks and scuffs on either side of the barrel. The right side of the frame over the trigger has a cluster of light nicks and scuffs. The cylinder has a faint turn line. Pins are unmarred, and all markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with minor play with the trigger depressed. The single action is crisp, and the double action is smooth. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This Redhawk includes a serial-matching gray plastic snap case, a security lock, and factory paperwork in an envelope.
Our Assessment: The Redhawk was Ruger’s first large bore double action revolver and was available in several barrel lengths and chambered for an assortment of powerful cartridges such as .357 or .44 Remington Magnum. This example is chambered for the more sporty .45 Colt. Like the Security-Six before it, the Redhawk was designed by Harry Sefried as a part of their “6” line of guns (Security, Service, Speed) The Redhawk is a what is colloquially known as a wrist-breaker, a beastly thrill to shoot, but as a tool, it’s best utilized when on the hunt should you run into a predator yourself—that kill was yours, not some lazy bear’s. And this example’s 8” barrel will make the task even easier, should find the need to face down a bear. This example is in overall Fine condition with minimal wear. Good luck and happy bidding!
