Our Assessment: This custom Kentucky Rifle is a .50 caliber flintlock muzzle-loaded rifle. The rifle is beautifully crafted and remains mechanically sound. The rifle pays homage to the classic rifled bore “Kentucky Rifle” which were made as both flintlock and percussion rifles during the 18th and 19th centuries. The rifles faded into obscurity towards the end of the 19th century but only for a time. In the late 1960s there was resurgence of interest in blackpowder weaponry and a number of companies and independent gunsmiths began to forge replicas. Interest in such guns has remained high ever since. The rifle may have been manufactured by Brian Turner, a gunsmith that made a number of custom muzzle-loaders but we can not confirm this. B. Turner could also be the recipient of the rifle whom it was made for. The rifle is beautifully crafted and remains mechanically sound. This is one muzzle-loaded rifle you do not want to miss out on!
