Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”, the right is marked “45 COLT CTG.”. The side plate has S&W’s monogram logo, the right side of the frame has the four line Marcas Registradas. The crane cut is marked with the serial and model numbers. The crane and the sides of the grip frame have inspection marks. The butt is marked with the serial number.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated, ramped blade with a red plastic insert, integral to a rise in the serrated rib. The rear sight is a white-outlined square notch adjustable for windage and elevation, slotted and screw-secured to the topstrap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered Goncalo Alves target stocks with S&W medallions at their tops and a football cut. There are light handling marks. The checkering is mostly sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There are a few small spots of surface erosion at the midsection.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered light marks. There are a few light handling marks. The cylinder has a faint turn line. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: There is a coat of old dried oil in the internals and in the arbor of the cylinder, this makes the action slow and a bit difficult to use but the action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a wood presentation case, cleaning kit, and paperwork including the manual.
Our Assessment: This is Smith & Wesson’s model 25-5, a heavy barreled target revolver chambered in .45 Colt with a 6″ barrel, adjustable sights, and Goncalo Alves target stocks. This one has hardly any wear and comes in a presentation case with a cleaning kit and factory paperwork including a manual. It is in Excellent condition with about 98% of its metal finish, a great bore, and good mechanics. This will make a great addition to a Smith & Wesson or revolver collection and one the collectors won’t want to miss out on given its high condition. Please see our pictures and good luck!
