Markings: The yoke cut is marked with the serial and model numbers. The right side of the frame is marked with the four-line Marcas Registradas address, the left side has S&W’s Performance Center monogram logo. The sides of the grip frame and yoke have inspection marks. The butt is marked with the serial number.
Barrel Length: 2″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade with a recessed white dot dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a large “V” groove at the end of a groove that runs the length of the topstrap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The Ahrends brand grips are two-piece smooth wood with finger grooves. There are a few scattered tiny compressions and a few little tiny dings. There is a little material loss on the right panel at the very top along the rear edge. The grips are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The frame is cracked below the barrel and this revolver is unsafe to shoot. There are some are oil marks, most noticeable on the grip frame. It looks like the revolver had a clear coat finish which has some loss under the Performance Center logo and behind the trigger guard. The cylinder has a turn line so light it will likely go unnoticed. The hammer and trigger have light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp to lightly worn. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun appears in Fine condition but rates Poor due to the frame being cracked.
Mechanics: The frame is cracked under the barrel and this is unsafe to shoot. The action functions correctly. Moon clips are required to eject brass. The cylinder lockup has almost no play on each of the six chambers. The double-action trigger is light and smooth and the single-action is light and crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The S&W Model 625 is a gun with an interesting, if confusing, history. There was never a 625 no dash, nor have any 625-1s been seen with the first revolvers being model 625-2. The early production guns have been seen marked both “Model of 1988” and “Model of 1989”. Just a year into production, the cylinder stop notches were enlarged on the 625-3. This example is another beast, altogether. Produced by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center, this is an airweight, 2? .45 ACP revolver made with scandium alloy components. This one looks good but the frame has cracked under the barrel so this should not be shot but can be used for parts or fitting grips. Please see our photos and good luck!
