Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 96% of its finish. The metal shows scuffs, scrapes, light discoloration, and light thinning on the leading edges of the metal. The trigger group shows a few small deep scrapes that have removed the finish. The right side of the receiver and the bolt show light thinning from cycling. The markings on the metal are deep & crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This Harrington & Richardson Arms M1 Garand was made back in 1954. It uses all Harrington & Richardson parts so it has lots of little “HRA” markings on the metal. Even the gas cylinder lock screw and rear sight are marked “HRA”. Most of the HRA part drawing numbers are “matching” as they are correct for the rifle’s serial number. The drawing number on the HRA hammer was used for a different block of serial numbers. This M1 Garand looks good and has a strong bright bore. This is an ideal M1 Garand for a collector.
