Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The left side of the slide has the S&W trademark logo. The left side of the frame is marked “UBB9349″. The right side of the barrel is marked “22 LONG RIFLE”. The right side of the slide is marked with the marcas registradas. The right side of the frame is marked “MODEL 41”.

Barrel Length: 5 1/2″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Patridge blade on a serrated ramp integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a serrated square-notch Millett target sight adjustable for windage and elevation dovetailed into the barrel “tail” which continues over the slide to the rear of the frame. The top of the barrel is matte finished with a line of serrations for glare reduction. The top of the barrel has two pairs of drilled, tapped, and filled holes.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood with a thumb shelf on each panel. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is light handling wear and light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. This pistol has a magazine disconnect safety. We did not fire this gun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a blue S&W one-piece case, paperwork including the manual, and one 10-round magazine. The case does not match the serial number and has some scuffs, faint scratches, and some stress discoloration, in about Very Good-Fine condition. The mag has some light operational wear, in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: From its introduction in 1957 to this very day, the Smith & Wesson Model 41 has been considered one of the finest target pistols made commercially. This example shows hardly any wear and has a great bore and a nice trigger. The action is smooth and these guns typically function flawlessly. These are just great guns. This example should attract the Smith collectors, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a better production rimfire pistol. If you are in the market for a .22 target pistol this year, this should be it.
