Our Assessment: This is an unusually rare offering. These are two consecutively serial numbered Remington Rand 1911s manufactured in Syracuse, New York in 1944. They are marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” and have the Ordnance Department’s “Crossed Cannons” final inspection mark. They are also both marked “FJA” for Lieutenant Colonel Frank J. Atwood, Deputy District Chief and Army Inspector of Ordnance for the Rochester, New York Ordnance District. These pistols are “unissued”, have been handled and stored carefully, and are in amazing condition. It is highly unlikely you would ever again be offered two Remington Rand pistols in such Excellent condition, much less two that are consecutively serial numbered and retain their boxes. Due to the consecutive serial numbers they are only being offered as a pair. Bid now, or forever hold your peace . . .
