Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “*.410 BORE 2 1/2” AND 3””, “FULL”, and “AA”. The left side of the receiver is marked “Remington 870 EXPRESS” followed by the serial number. The right side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, NY” and also has magnaflux, proof, and test marks.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a bead set on the vent rib.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are press-checkered laminate wood with a pistol grip, straight comb, and finger groove forend. There are a few light handling marks. The checkering is intact. The LOP measures 14 1/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the checkered hard rubber buttplate. The buttplate has some light handling wear. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks and light operational wear. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: In 1950, Remington introduced a modern, streamlined, rugged, reliable, and relatively inexpensive shotgun – the 870. They reached two million guns by 1973 (ten times the number of Model 31 shotguns it replaced). As of 1983, the 870 held the record for the best-selling shotgun in history with three million sold. This one is an Express chambered for .410 shells with a 25” barrel, matte blued finish, and wood stocks.
