Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. / SMITH-CORONA / MODEL 03-A3 / 3644169”. The top of the Smith Corona barrel is marked “S C / flaming bomb / 2 43”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “P”. The safety is marked “SAFE READY” and the magazine cutoff is marked “ON OFF”. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked “2” and with a punch. The bottom of the butt is marked “P” and “x” next to the grip.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a pinned blade set atop a raised base and under a removable protective hood. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight marked from “2-8”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece oil stained hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose cap with bayonet lug, stacking loop, two barrel bands, two sling loops, two through bolts, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The buttplate shows scrapes. The nosecap & barrel bands show scrapes & discoloration, and light surface erosion. The wood shows scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Some have damaged small portions of the surface wood. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The muzzle & grooves are light grey. The rifling is deep. There is fouling and intermittent light erosion in the grooves. The bore shows an M.E. of 1.2.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. The metal shows scrapes & light scratches. The barrel shows discoloration from oxidation. The screw heads show heavy use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a leather sling. It shows scrapes, surface cracking, and some marker ink on the leather. The metal shows scrapes & oxidation. It is in about Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This Smith Corona 03A3 was made during WWII. The rifle has nice Smith Corona markings on the receiver & barrel. This Smith Corona 1903A3 looks good for a Military rifle that is almost 80 years old. It will add to your Military collection. Good luck.
