Markings: There is no visible import mark. The left side of the receiver, the left side of the barrel shank, bolt body (under the extractor), underside of the bayonet lug, left side of the rear sight base, and the bottom of the buttstock are each marked with the serial number “17139”. The rear of the bolt assembly is marked with the last 3 digits of the serial number “139” in two places. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked “5”. The barrel shank and barrel shroud are each marked with “lines” that meet. The top of the barrel shank is marked “crown / 92”. The marking disk on the right side of the buttstock is marked “2FAR / 1830”. This is a unit marking.
Barrel Length: Approximately 33 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post marked “4” on the top. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade when down. When flipped up it becomes a sight ladder marked from “4 – 18” and “20” at the top. A sliding “V” notched blade and a “V” notch at the top of the ladder can be used for sighting.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a straight grip, finger grooves, two barrel bands, a stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate. The buttplate & stock hardware show small scratches, discoloration from oxidation, and light surface erosion. The top of the butt has 3 notches cut into it.The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. Several have damaged small portions of the surface wood. Most of these marks have been finished over. The LOP measures 13 ½ inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition, as a refinished antique.

Bore Condition: The lands are grey. The grooves are dark, and the rifling is deep. There is erosion present; heavier in the grooves.
Overall Condition: The metal has lost its finish to oxidation. The metal shows scrapes, scratches, discoloration from oxidation, and patches of light surface erosion. The screw heads show oxidation and use. Most of the markings are well defined. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition as an antique.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a rare Danish Krag Jorgensen Model 1889/10. Basically it is a Model 1889 with the 1910 updates. The updates included the addition of a safety that locks the bolt in place and a longer range rear sight (needed for the new 1908 dated Danish ammunition). This is a very distinctive looking rifle with matching part numbers. The barrel shroud and side mounted magazine set it apart from other military rifles. The magazine is also different from a standard Krag, The loading door rotates forward to open, not down. The rifle even has a unit marking on the buttstock’s marking disk. Unfortunately we do not know which unit marked the rifle or when it was marked. Danish Krag-Jorgensen rifles were used in WWI and in WWII to fight the Germans. This is an ideal rifle for the Krag collector.
This Krag is an antique so no FFL is required…unless you live in California.
