Markings: There is no visible import mark. The top of the receiver is marked “eagle / 135”, “byf” and “43”. The left side of the receiver is marked with a Nazi “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number and “Mod. 98”. The right side of the receiver is marked with an “eagle / 135” inspection stamp. The barrel shank has been restamped with 3 “eagle / swastika” marks. The bolt handle, bolt assembly, nosecap, barrel band bottom metal have been restamped with numbers that relate to the serial number. The bottom metal is also marked with 2 “eagle” inspection stamps. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked with an “eagle” inspection stamp.
Barrel Length: Approximately 23 ¾ Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base and under a removable protective hood. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding escalator assembly marked from “1-20”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The laminate stock has a pistol grip, nose cap, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, scallop for the bolt handle, through bolt, slingwell, sling pass through, domed washer, and a metal buttplate. The buttplate, nosecap & barrel band have been refinished. The stock shows only light handling marks. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The grooves and muzzle are light grey. The rifling is deep. There is fouling and intermittent erosion in the grooves and at the muzzle.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish as refinished. The trigger guard shows light scrapes. The remaining metal shows a few light handling marks. The screw heads show use but are refinished. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action function correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This WWII Nazi German K98 was made at the Mauser Oberndorf factory in Germany back in 1943. It has since been refinished and has had various markings restamped to correlate to the serial number on the receiver. This K98 looks great and can still put tons of 8mm downrange.
