An ERMA E.L. 24 conversion unit has been installed.

Markings: There is no visible import mark . The top of the receiver is marked with a partial “eagle / swastika”, the factory code “dou” and the year “44”. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number, with a Nazi “eagle/ swastika” and “Mod. 98”. The left side of the barrel shank is marked with a Nazi “eagle/ swastika” and faded stanpings. The original bottom metal is marked with faded “crowns”. Some of the metal parts are marked with numbers that do not correlate to the serial number. The right side of the butt is marked with a faded stamping.
The top of the .22 chamber is marked “FABRIKAT / ERMA / ERFURT”. The top of the bolt handle is marked “eagle / 77” and “1207”. The safety lever is marked “eagle / 77” and “07”. The conversion bottom metal is marked “ERMA / ERFURT / 1937”, “eagle / 77” and “4261”. The magazine is marked “ERMA / ERFURT / 1937” and “eagle / 77”.
The interior of the K98 sling is marked “207106”. The sling buckle is marked “L&F”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 23 ¾ Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base and under a protective hood. The rear sight is a sliding “V” notched sight escalator marked from “1 – 20”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece laminate stock has a pistol grip, metal nose cap, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, through bolt, domed washer, sling well, sling pass through, and metal butt plate. The cleaning rod will not tighten down. It can easily be removed. The buttplate & stock hardware show surface erosion.The rear of the handguard shows a repaired hairline crack. The stock shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Several have damaged portions of the wood. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. The stock rates in about Good to Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild
Bore Condition: The lands in the .22 sleeve are bright and the grooves are semi bright. The rifling is deep. There is intermittent light erosion near the muzzle of the .22 sleeve.
Overall Condition: This rifle has lost most of its metal finish to oxidation. The barrel has been treated with cold blue. The metal shows scrapes, small scratches and discoloration from oxidation. The metal also shows a few areas of light surface erosion. Most of the markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a .22 magazine that shows scrapes and pin prick surface erosion. Overall it is in about Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This WWII German K98 Mauser was made back in 1944. It was made at the Waffen Werke Bystrica factory which was located in Slovakia. The rifle has been converted to a .22 Training Rifle by installing an ERMA E.L. 24 conversion unit. This Nazi made K98 will add to your Mauser or WWII collection.
