Markings: The yoke cut is marked with the serial and model numbers. The right side of the frame is marked with the four-line Marcas Registradas address. The sideplate is marked with the atomic S&W logo. The sides of the grip frame and yoke have inspection marks. The butt is marked with the serial number. The right side of the barrel is marked “.44 S&W SPECIAL CTG. / MAX BULLET 200 GRAIN”. The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”.
Barrel Length: 2 1/2″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade pinned to the barrel rib. The rear sight is a square notch at the end of a groove in the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The boot grips are two-piece checkered black rubber with smooth borders and finger grooves. There are a few marks on the bottoms. The checkering is sharp. The grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the Electro Chemically Machined rifling is strong. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few light rubs on the cylinder and a faint turn line. There is some standard operational wear. There are light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double-action trigger is smooth. The cylinder lockup has hardly any movement. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a lockable gray AirLite case, key, paperwork including the manual. One of the pieces of paperwork has a serial matching label.
Our Assessment: The S&W Model 296Ti was made from only 1999 to 2001 and is a concealed hammer revolver built on an alloy round butt L frame chambered for .44 Special. With its concealed hammer design, light alloy frame, and compact boot grips this will be an excellent piece for concealed carry and there is little to snag when being drawn. With that being said, this one has seen little time outside of the included case and is in truly Excellent condition so Smith collectors will likely show interest.
