Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “MODEL 37 – FEATHERLIGHT® – 12 GA. – 2 ¾ CHAMBER – PROOF TESTED”, “ITHACA GUN CO. INC. ITHACA, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. – ROTC”, an anvil is marked next to “FORGED®” and “CYL.” The right side of the barrel is marked with an anvil with a “P” inside of it. The right side of the receiver is also marked with a anvil with a “P” and marked with the serial number “371696299”. The left side of the grip is marked “MOD. / 37”. The forearm grip has a sticker on the top of it, hidden by the barrel, marked “ITH 37 / $14.95”.

Sights/ Optics: The top of the receiver is serrated to reduce glare. There is a hole at the muzzle, but no front sight is currently installed.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stocks are two pieces with a black plastic and checkered pistol grip and a black plastic corncob style forearm. The forearm has several handling marks, scratches and nicks. The pistol grip has a number of handling marks, scratches and nicks. Notably the top of the grip and the bottom left. The checkering has a bit of wear, notably on the left side, but remains sharp. There are two loops for attaching a sling that have mild surface oxidation. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the stocks are in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: The shotgun retains about 90% of its original finish. There are moderate handling marks, minor scratches and nicks scattered throughout. Notably, the magazine tube has large scratches from the slide action from typical operation. There is also a prominent scratch on the right side of the barrel a few inches behind the muzzle and on the left side adjacent to the muzzle. There is a loop for sling attachment under the muzzle. The markings are clear. The LOP measures 4” from the trigger to the butt of the grip. The screwheads have buildup in their slots and toolmarks, they are still serviceable. Overall this shotgun is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The safety functions properly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: There is a sling installed on the two loops of the pistol grip. It is leather, with the stitching still fully intact and no tears or rips present. Overall the sling is in Excellent overall condition.
Our Assessment: This Ithaca model 37 “featherlight” pump action shotgun takes 2 ¾” shells. Based on the serial number this shotgun appears to have been produced early 1981, today over 40 years later it remains a great choice for home defense and personal protection. The 7+1 capacity, handgrip, and chrome finish make you feel like an 80’s superstar.
