The stock and sights are described below.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice . The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “UP arrow DOWN arrow / BATTLE triangle RANGE” (Springfield).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The left side of the stock (above the trigger) is marked with “boxed” Springfield Ordnance cartouche “S.A. / NER” with the ordnance canons stamp. The face of the grip is marked with a “circled P” proof.The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with a hinged door. The buttplate shows discoloration and oxidation. The wood shows light scrapes, small scratches, light compression marks and areas of discoloration. There is some loss on the bottom of the front handguard. There is a loss of wood on the bottom of the grip. There is a loss and a scrape on the inside of the stock where the receiver meets the wood on the right side. There is a scrape where the wood meets the shelf. There is a thin crack in the stock where the wood meets the receiver on the right side of the stock. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright. There is oxidation on the lands near the muzzle. The bore shows an M.E. of 1. The throat shows a T.E. of 2.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The metal shows scuffs, light scrapes and small handling marks. It shows thinning finish on the receiver. There is handling wear on the trigger guard and the action shows operational wear. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was made back in 1945 with all the parts matching for Springfield. If you want an all around Springfield to add to your collection this rifle will fit right in. However, it can easily be ready to be your next gun to shoot .30-06 at the range. Good luck!
