Markings: The import mark is in tiny text on the right rear of the receiver. It reads “GIBBS MARTBURG WY”. The top of the receiver is covered by the scope base. The left side of the receiver is marked “MAUSER MODELO / ARGENTINO 1909” and “DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND / MUNITIONSFABRIKEN BERLIN”. The right side of the receiver, right side of the stock (restamped) bolt handle, bottom metal and cleaning rod are all marked with the serial number. Most of the metal parts are marked with small Argentine stampings. The right side of the buttstock is marked with a faded Argentine crest. There are a few other markings on the rifle.
The Zeiss scope is marked “JENA / Zielvier / Nr. 59547”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 29 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base. The rear sight is a “V” notched sliding escalator marked from “3-20”.
A fixed power Zeiss scope is secured by 2 scope rings and 2 scope bases. The screw heads show use. The lever at the right rear does not tighten down; the rear base may be assembled improperly. The metal shows scrapes & some small scratches. The scope tube also shows surface erosion. The scope uses a German 3 post reticle. The glass is slightly cloudy around the edges. The adjustment knob and knob lock turn. It is marked “100” and from “300 -900”. Overall the scope assembly is in about Good condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock shows various scratches and compression marks. The most prominent marks are below the left side of the receiver. The refinished buttplate shows light surface erosion. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine overall condition as refinished.

Bore Condition: The grooves & muzzle are grey. The rifling is deep. There is fouling & erosion present in the grooves and at the muzzle. The fouling should clean up some.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish as refinished. The receiver has oxidation showing through the new finish. The metal shows scuffs & light handing marks. The left side of the receiver shows a small spot of thinning. The screw heads show use but are refinished. The exposed markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Argentinian Model 1909 Mauser was made by Deutsche Waffen Munitionsfabriken (DWM) of Germany back in 1910. It was made as a contract Rifle for Argentina. The rifle has been refinished so it looks great for its age. The rifle is topped with a Zeiss scope assembly.
