The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “DRC”. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of 2 and marked with “UP” and “DOWN” each with an arrow, “BATTLE” and “RANGE” with a triangle.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The left side of the stock (above the trigger) is marked with “P X”, “P M” both done by hand. The “P X” looks wider and the “P M” appears to be sharper. The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate. The buttplate is the early checkered design that is on a late wooden stock. The wood shows scuffs, dings, & scratches scattered throughout. There is a more notable scrape on the left of the front handguard at the front edge. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate does not match the stock. The stock is made for a trapdoor buttplate. The buttplate has some erosion scattered along it. The stock rates are in about Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Refinished, likely arsenal refurbished.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright. The grooves are semi bright. The rifling is sharp. There is some frosting at the muzzle. The bore shows an M.E. of 1.5. The throat shows a T.E. of 2.0.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 92% of its metal finish. The metal shows scuffs & light handling marks. The gas cylinder is in the white. The screw heads are tool marked with serviceable slots. The markings are clear, the receiver heel markings are a little shallow. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories:  Included is a military green cloth sling. The sling has some wear with fraying on the sides and minor discoloration, in about Fair-Good condition.

Our Assessment: Any gun owner in America should own an M1 Garand. This rifle has the look of a service weapon that has seen action on the field. Flesh this out a bit. Built on a very early receiver, late production barrel with a good bore This is a great piece of history that can be added to your collection. Good luck!
