Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The right side of the barrel is marked “45 CAL MODEL OF 1989?. The yoke cut is marked “BEN4235 / MOD. 625-3”. The right side of the frame is marked with the four-line Marcas Registradas address, the left side of the frame has S&W’s monogram logo. The butt is marked with the serial number. The crane and sides of the grip frame have inspection marks.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an SDM serrated blade with a red fiber-optic insert and is pinned to a rise in the serrated barrel rib. The rear sight is a white outline square-notch leaf adjustable for windage and elevation, screwed to the topstrap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a Hogue Monogrip with finger grooves and their pebble texture which leave the top portion of the serrated backstrap exposed. The grip has a few scuffs and little mars on the bottom. There are no rips or tears. Overall, the grips are in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The sides of the grip frame have some spots of dark discoloration and some oil stains. The sideplate has a faint outline of discoloration in the shape of the grip. There are some light handling marks and a faint scuff or two. There is a turn line on the cylinder. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition and appears as an easy Excellent with the Monogrip installed.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. A spring kit has been installed. The cylinder lockup has very light play on each of the six chambers. The double-action trigger is smooth and the single-action is crisp. This revolver can be fired without moon clips but the extractor will not function without mooon clips. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a total of four half-moon clips, the original springs, cleaning kit, paperwork including the manual, Pachmayr “Gripper” grip, and a serial matching box. The cleaning kit contains a mop, brush, and rod. The box shows some scattered scuffs through the finish, some spots of discoloration, and some light edge wear. The box is in about Very Good-Fine condition. The checkered black rubber grip has finger grooves and is in about Excellent condition with light handling wear.
Our Assessment: The S&W Model 625 is a gun with an interesting, if confusing, history. There was never a 625 no dash, nor have any 625-1s been seen with the first revolvers being model 625-2. These early production guns have been seen marked both “Model of 1988” and “Model of 1989”. Just a year into production, the cylinder stop notches were enlarged on the 625-3. This example is a 625-3 chambered for .45 ACP, able to be used with or without moon clips (though extraction will be easier with the clips). Able to share ammunition with semi-automatics chambered for the same cartridge, this is a great revolver to add to a collection which is already shooting this classic pistol caliber. This example is a 4? version which would make for a fine carry revolver, though with the upgraded springs the trigger pulls are sweet. The gun is in about Fine-Excellent condition with about 97% of its stainless finish, a great bore and strong mechanics. It even comes with some half-moon clips to get you started.
