The most prominent marks are under the right side of the receiver. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright. The front third of the bore is light grey. The rifling is deep. The front third of the bore shows fouling and erosion in the grooves. The fouling should clean up some. The bore shows an M.E. of 2. The throat shows a T.E. of 4.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 94% of its metal finish as refinished. The receiver has surface erosion showing through the new finish. The metal shows light scrapes, small scratches and small handling marks. The gas tube shows moderate thinning. The rear sight cover shows a freckling of oxidation. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show thinning consistent with cycling. The receiver markings are faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This Winchester M1 Garand was made back in 1943. After WWII this Garand served in a U.S. friendly country and was eventually sent back to the U.S. for sales to the civilian market. The import mark is on the barrel. This is a 78 year old wartime Military rifle that may have served in 2 different conflicts. This rifle has seen some use, but both the metal and wood have been refinished so it looks good. The rifle has a muzzle break and National Match front sight installed so it should keep you happy at the range.
