Markings: The left side of the upper barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN JAPAN/MIROKU”. The left of the monoblock is marked “24178”, “3”,  and “INVECTOR / 28””. The bottom of the monoblock is marked with proofs. The right of the top barrel is marked “SPECIAL STEEL .410 BORE – 2 ½” AND 3””. The inside of the forend iron is marked “24178” and the inside of the forend is stamped “BA24178”. The top tang, under the lever, is marked with the serial number. The sides of the receiver are marked with a Buck Mark followed by “ultra XS”. The sides and bottom of the receiver have scroll engraving with gold accents. The bottom of the trigger guard has a Buck Mark logo.

Barrel Length: 28” Vent-Rib

Choke: The currently installed chokes are Modified over Improved Cylinder.

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a white bead front sight and a white alignment bead at the midsection of the rib.

Weight: 6 lb., 15 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with a pistol grip and fluted straight comb. There are a few draglines and some tiny marks into the finish, most noticeable on the left side of the buttstock behind the grip and on the left of the forend on at the rear up towards the top. The checkering is mostly sharp. The LOP measures approximately 14 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the unmarked black rubber buttpad and 13 1/4” to the wood. The drop at comb is approximately 1 ½” and at heel 2”. The cast is about neutral, slightly off. The pad has light handling wear. The stocks rate in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with no erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There is some light handling wear on the receiver with some small spots of finish loss on the gold accents. There are a few nicks on the barrel lugs visible on the bottom of the frame. There is a cluster of scuffs on the bottom of the lower barrel that has caused finish loss. There are a few light marks on the barrels. There is operational finish loss on the trigger. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this gun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun features a single selective trigger and ejectors. The barrels lock up solidly. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened but does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a smooth trigger (checkered currently installed), a Skeet choke, and a Full choke.

Our Assessment: Browning Citori shotguns are extremely dependable and make for great investments. This example is a Citori XS Sporting, or Ultra XS, with 28” barrels threaded for Invector chokes and chambered for .410 2 ½” or 3” shells. It has wear consistent with normal use at the range, retaining strong mechanics, bright bores, and a tight lockup. This ought to be a great shotgun for hunting or clay shooting for the lucky winner.
