Follower: Unmarked– Used by all 4 manufacturers (page 83).
Receiver Leg: “A 5 7” and “F6528291” – Correct for the Springfield serial number (page 29).
Op Rod: “D35382 SA” – A Springfield part (page 71).
Barrel: “T”, “K”,“P” (twice), “SA S6535448 4 54 A213A” and with a Defense “Eagle” acceptance stamp – A Springfield part (page 63).

The stock and sights are described below.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “DRC”. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “HR A” on the edge.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The face of the grip is marked with a “circled P” proof. The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked with a faded Defense “Eagle” acceptance stamp.
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate shows scrapes, small scratches, thinning and small dents along the edges. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Several have damaged small portions of the surface wood. These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is some frosting at the muzzle. The bore shows an M.E. of 1.8. The throat shows a T.E. of 3.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 94% of its metal finish. The gas tube and trigger group have been refinished. The gas tube shows scrapes & scratches. The left side of the barrel shows a long thin scrape. The bottom metal shows scrapes & a small dent. The receiver shows scuffs, light scrapes and light discoloration. The underside of the receiver shows an area of surface erosion at the rear. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show thinning from cycling. The markings on the metal are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Springfield M1 Garand was made back in 1954. It has deep Springfield markings of most of its metal parts. It looks good and still has a strong bore. It will add to your collection and should keep you smiling at the range.
