Markings: Both lock plates are marked “LIBERTY” with a man on horseback, a star on a badge, and decorative border engraving. The left and right water table are both marked “12.70” in an oval, the right is marked with two proof markings, the left is marked with the serial number and “S.T.AR”. The top of the right chamber is marked “Liberty Coach 12 GA” and with a star, the top of the left is marked “K.B.I-HBG.PA-Spain-ASTAR”. The bottom of the left barrel is marked “18.4”, the bottom of the right is marked “18.5”. The bottom of both barrel flats is marked “12.70” in an oval, two proof markings, and “850bares”, the bottom of the left is marked with the serial number and “S.T.AR”, the bottom of the right is marked “1135 gmos”.

Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a brass bead at the front of the rib. The top of the rib has wavy serrations to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth dark wood with a blued steel capped pistol grip, straight comb, and smooth blued steel buttplate. There is a crack on both sides of the wrist extending from the lock plate. Other than those, there are only minor marks including some minor nicks and lines in the belly. There are no chips. The drop at heel and comb are 2 1/4” and 1 1/2”, respectively. The LOP measures 14 3/8” and 13 1/2” from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttplate, respectively. The plate shows some light scattered surface oxidation. The stocks rate in about Good-Plus overall condition and would rate higher if not for the cracks.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows the case coloring receding at certain edges. There is some very light oxidation between the barrel and rib on the left side. The screw heads have light tool markings. The markings are crisp and clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fin-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is a bit stiff. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Liberty Coach shotgun by ASTAR from Spain was manufactured in 1999 and is very clean, in about Fine-Plus condition with 97% of its original finish remaining. The barrel locks up snugly with no perceptible play to the receiver. Please see
