Markings: The import mark on the barrel reads “CAI ST ALB VT / M52 6.5X55 SWEDEN”. The left side of the receiver is marked with a Carl Gustafs “crown / C” stamping between “19” and “43”. The left side of the receiver is also marked with the serial number and “B”. The right side of the receiver is marked “S.S.”. The rear of the receiver is marked with a “crown” and “H”. Many of the metal parts are marked with small “crowns”. The buttplate is marked with the serial number. The left side of the bolt carrier is etched with the serial number. The etching is over a faded marking. The left side of the top cover is marked “B” and with a small Swedish stamping that appears to read “CB”. The left side of the front sight is marked “+0.5”. The top of the rear sight is marked “B”. The marking disk on the butt is marked over the lower “8” in the large section. It is unmarked in the medium section. It is unmarked in the small section. The bottom of the grip is marked with 2 small “crowns”. The magazine is marked “circled J”, with 2 “B” stampings and with a “crown”.

Barrel Length: Approximately 25 ½ Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a bladed post set under a protective hood. The rear sight is an elevation adjustable “U” notched blade. The large knob on the left is turned to raise & lower the sight. There is a window next to the knob that reads the elevation. It is marked from “1-7”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece hardwood stock has a pistol grip, finger grooves, nosecap with a hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, through bolt, sling loop under the butt and a metal buttplate. The refinished buttplate has several small scratches & small dents showing through the finish. It also shows scrapes. The wood shows various scrapes & scratches. The left side of the stock shows a hairline edge crack and is missing a chip of edge wood above the finger groove. The LOP measures 13 ½ inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The front sight base shows thinning and discoloration. The metal shows scuffs, scrapes & small scratches. The screw heads show use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a 10 round magazine that shows scrapes & scuffs along the bottom. It is in about Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This Swedish Ljungman AG-42B was made by Carl Gustafs back in 1943. It was Arsenal Refurbished & upgraded in 1953 and has since been imported to the U.S. This Swedish semi auto looks great and will add nicely to your collection.
In 1953 the AG42 was upgraded to the AG42B model, which involved a number of small changes. The most distinctive one is the change from serrated patches on the receiver cover to round protrusions, to allow shooters a better grip. In addition, a rubber ejection buffer was added to prevent brass damage, the gas tube was strengthened, the magazine was given a more secure front hook, and a few other minor internal improvements were made.
