Markings: The import mark on the barrel is partially stamped. Only the top 3rd of the small text is visible. It reads “ARL ORD ARLINGTON VA”.

The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “WC E” on the edge.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The bottom of the pistol grip is marked “118” in paint. The face of the pistol grip is marked with a “circled P” proof. Both sides of the butt are painted with Korean markings.
The stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate shows scrapes, scratches and light surface erosion. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Several have damaged or removed small portions of the surface wood. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Good to Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright. The area near the bore is semi bright. The rifling is deep. There is fouling near the muzzle which should clean up a bit. There is no erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of 0.5. The throat shows a T.E. of 2.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish as refinished. The op rod shows an area of surface erosion. The gas cylinder lock screw shows thinning. The barrel & gas tube show scrapes & thin scratches. The receiver & bottom metal show scuff & light scrapes. The markings are well defined. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle has a green canvas sling attached. The canvas shows light discoloration. The metal shows scrapes & scratches. Overall the sling is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.

Our Assessment: This WWII Springfield Armory M1 Garand was made back in 1945. After WWII it served in South Korea. It was eventually imported back to the U.S. for sales to the civilian market. Luckily the Korean markings on the stock are large and the import mark is very small.
