Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “Classic”. The right side of the frame is marked “DAN WESSON FIREARMS NORWICH, NY U.S.A. / 1303368”. The top of the chamber is marked “.45 ACP”, the right is marked “MATCH”.

Sights / Optics: The sights are Trijicon Novak-style night sights. The front sight is a blade with a single tritium lamp, the rear sight has a square notch with two tritium lamps, both dovetailed to the slide. The rear lamps are amber and the front lamp is green. The lamps have a strong glow and are easily useable in low-no light environments.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece double diamond checkered cocobolo. There are some faint marks not through the finish on the grips, mainly on the top left diamond. The checkering is strong with light rub wear. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some scattered light little draglines and some little streaks, most noticeable on the left side flat towards the front. There are some little scuffs and rubs on the matte portions that have caused smooth spots. There is a takedown mark on the frame. The screw sockets are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly with a crisp trigger pull and snug slide to frame fit. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A black soft case and two Dan Wesson magazines in about Fine Plus condition are included.
Our Assessment: Produced only in small numbers in recent years, a resurgence in demand means Dan Wesson brought the bobbed Commander back into regular production. One of the few California-legal models in their 1911 line, it has a loyal and growing following in the Golden State. With stainless steel slide and frame, its flats are brushed and rounds are bead blasted. With snag-free Tritium sights and a bobbed mainspring housing, it is an excellent candidate for concealed carry. This is a great Commander-size pistol with all stainless construction, bobbed mainspring housing for comfort and concealability, solid construction with no play, crisp trigger and gorgeous appearance. In Fine Plus condition, this pistol would make a fantastic addition to any collection as well as being a defensive handgun to which you can trust your life. Please see our photos and good luck!
