Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER MODEL 70 7MM-08 REM ONLY- / -WINCHESTER IS A REGISTERED TRADEMARK OF OLIN CORPORATION-“, the rear has an ovalled “WP” proof. The left of the receiver has “WINCHESTER” and has an ovalled “WP” proof. The right of the chamber ring is marked with the serial number and the bolt is matched and marked with the last five digits of the serial number. The right side of the barrel is marked “-MODEL 70 EXTREME WEATHER SS- / -Imported by BACO Inc., Morgan Utah – Made in Portugal by Browning Viana”.
Barrel Length: 22″ Fluted
Sights / Optics: The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped to accept optic mounts and is installed with a one-piece rail. There is no provision for iron sights.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece textured Bell & Carlson composite stock with grey webbing, pistol grip, straight comb with a cheekpiece, sling studs front and rear, and a solid black rubber Decelerator buttpad. There are a couple scattered light rubs and handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad shows minor wear from age. Overall, the stock is in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few light little scuffs and rubs on the barrel, some have caused smooth spots. The marks on the barrel are most noticeable towards the front. There are some scuffs and rubs on the floorplate that have caused smooth spots. There are some light handling marks on the bolt handle. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the rear of the bolt. Pulled to the rear, the safety is ON, locking both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle which has been a staple of hunters for more than 80 years. This example is an Extreme Weather model with a stainless finish and a Bell & Carlson composite stock. The rifle appears to have spent more time in the safe than out, in Excellent condition with only some light wear. If the collectors miss out on this opportunity, it is also chambered for 7mm-08 Remington, a versatile hunting cartridge, and will make for a hunting rifle that will stand up to the elements.
