Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45 Auto Ctge.”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871 / JULY 2, 72 JAN. 19, 75” and with a Rampant Colt logo.” The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”. The bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard and the left of each portion of the grip frame (under the grip) are marked “WCQ183”. The inside of each grip panel has “183” hand-written. The left of the trigger guard is marked “VP” in triangle and “Y”. The front face of the cylinder is marked “1 8 3” and the rear “ACP”.
Barrel Length: 4 3/4”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch in the topstrap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth walnut with gold-colored Colt medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and the cylinder lock up is tight. This revolver has a removable cylinder bushing. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a two-piece blue cardboard Colt box with a white cardboard sleeve, serial matching label on the sleeve, cable lock, five .45 ACP snap-caps, and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. The label is serial matching, but lists the finish as “Royal Blue/Color Case”, though we have not found any examples of this model which have color case finish, all we have seen are full blue. The sleeve has light storage wear, mostly at edges and corners, in about Very Good-plus condition. The blue cardboard box has faint storage wear, in Fine-Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Single Action Army commissioned by TALO from the Colt Custom Shop, designed by Wiley Clapp. This is number 183 of only 200 of this configuration manufactured in 2011. This one is in Excellent condition, showing little sign of use. There were a few different Wiley Clapp variants and this one is chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge with a 4 3/4″ barrel, Colt’s Royal Blue finish, and smooth walnut stocks. The result is a fast-handling revolver with a fantastic trigger chambered for a modern cartridge, and to top it off, it’s quite attractive. Complete with an original Colt box in Excellent condition, this is a spectacular addition to any Colt collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
