The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “DRC”. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “TI”.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The face of the grip is marked with a “circled P” proof. The bottom of the grip is marked “681” in faded paint. Both the left & right sides of the butt are painted with “boxes” containing numbers and what appear to be South Korean markings.
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate shows several small scratches, discoloration from oxidation and some pin prick surface erosion. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. Several have damaged small portions of the surface wood. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The grooves near the muzzle are light grey. The rifling is deep. There is fouling and frosting in the grooves near the muzzle. The bore shows an M.E. of 1.3. The throat shows a T.E. of 3.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The metal shows scrapes, small scratches and small spots of oxidation. The bottom of the receiver, right side of the receiver and receiver legs show areas of thinning. The bottom rear of the receiver shows pin prick surface erosion. The rear of the receiver and the op rod each show some light surface erosion. The receiver markings are faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a canvas sling. It shows soiling & light discoloration on the canvas as well as scrapes, scratches & thinning on the metal. Overall it is in about Very Good Plus condition.

Our Assessment: This Winchester M1 Garand was made back in 1942. After WWII this Garand may have served in Korea. The rifle is not import marked but its stock is painted with what appear to be South Korean markings. The rifle has seen some use but this is a wartime Military rifle that may have served in 2 different conflicts. It will add to your WWII collection.
