Markings: The right side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”, the left is marked “45 COLT CTG.”. The right side plate has S&W’s monogram logo, the right side of the frame has the four-line Marcas Registradas. The crane cut is marked with the serial and model numbers. The crane and the sides of the grip frame have inspection marks. The butt is marked with the serial number. The underside of the topstrap is marked “A”.
Barrel Length: 6 1/2″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a patridge blade pinned to a rise in the serrated rib. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation mounted to the topstrap. The top strap is drilled and tapped under the rear sight for mounting an optic (not included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece slim-profile checkered walnut target stocks with smooth diamonds around the grip screw escutcheons and S&W medallions at their tops. There are one or two little dings on the bottoms. There is what is either a small repair or scrape on the back of the left panel along the backstrap. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a couple tiny nicks on the bottom of the ejector shroud. There are some light draglines. The cylinder has a thin turn line. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action trigger is crisp. The cylinder produces light side to side play in lockup on each chamber. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue plastic S&W box with serial matching label, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, cable lock and keys for the revolver’s internal locking system. The box has minor storage wear, in about Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This is Smith & Wesson’s model 25-15, a heavy barreled target revolver chambered in .45 Colt. The .45 Colt is still a commercially available caliber and gives many options to hand-loaders including hard-cast lead, FMJ and Jacketed Hollow Point projectiles. This revolver is in Excellent condition with 97% of its original finish, a bright bore and strong mechanics. It comes with its original box and just about everything else it would brand-new. This would make for a great hunting sidearm or home defense revolver, though in its high condition, it is also likely to interest Smith & Wesson collectors. Please see our pictures and good luck!
