Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the aftermarket barrel is marked “243 ACK” on the chamber. The bolt is matched and hand-marked “6021”.
Barrel Length: 25” Fluted
Sights / Optics: The barrel has no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver has two pairs of drilled and tapped holes. The left side of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled for an aperture peep sight (not included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is composite with a pistol grip, fluted straight comb, slightly enlarged forend, sling studs on the belly & forend, and a black rubber buttpad. The stock has a textured black finish with gray webbing, it appears to be an HS Precision stock. There are some light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the black rubber Remington buttpad. The pad has some light wear from use. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blued Receiver with Stainless Barrel
Finish Originality: Original to Parts, the barrel is not original.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The barrel has a few scuffs and rubs that have caused smooth spots, most noticeable towards the front. There are a few little spots of discoloration on the barrel likely just from oil and handling. The bolt has some wear from standard use. There are a few marks through the finish on the bolt knob. The markings are clear. The screw heads show light use. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included are Redding Custom series dies, two are size and depriming, and the other is a seating die.
Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction. It has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement and has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. Being such a popular and time tested model, it is no wonder a market would spring up for aftermarket parts & enhancements. This one has been modified by Darrell Holland of Holland custom and has a fluted 25” barrel chambered for .243 Ackley Improved and been bedded in its stock. This will make for a fine target shooting rifle and should be capable of some impressive groups. Please see our photos and good luck!
