Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL CAL. 38-55 WIN. / -MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-“, the top at the rear has an ovalled “WP” proof, the right is marked “-WINCHESTER- / TRADEMARKS LICENSED FROM OLIN CORP.”. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number to the left of the lever plate.
Barrel Length: 26″, Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a “U”-notch elevator sight with a white triangle aiming reference dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. The notch is fine-adjustable for elevation. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled for a scope mount (none included). The top tang is drilled and tapped with a folding tang sight adjustable for windage and elevation.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with capped forend, pistol grip, sraight comb and case-color steel crescent buttplate. There are a couple of nicks in the belly and a light scratch on the right near the buttplate tang. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The rifle has a rebounding hammer, a tang safety, and a lever safety. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a cardboard Winchester box with incomplete label, lock, offset hammer spur, and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. The label is incomplete, but the model is matching and the portion of the serial number visible also matches. The box has scattered wear, some creases and surface loss from tape removal, in about Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1894 Legacy, made in 2004-2006. The Legacy has a blue and case color finish, a 26” octagonal barrel, checkered pistol grip stocks, and this example is chambered for .38-55 Winchester. The rifle appears to have seen little if any use, in Excellent condition and comes with a Winchester box.
